Centralisation ensures more capacity, sustainability and cost savings

Logistics service provider Zijderlaan manages the entire logistics chain for Cosun Beet Company in Puttershoek. The old sugar warehouse with about 5,000 pallets did not offer the necessary space for growth. External manual storage locations led to additional costs. Zijderlaan presented to Cosun Beet Company an innovative high-rise warehouse with its most important results being: substantial expansion of storage capacity, lower costs and more sustainable and efficient operations.

Computer-controlled pallet cranes

With a surface area of 6,500 m2 DC Zijderlaan in Puttershoek now offers space for around 17,500 pallets. The high-rise warehouse, linked by a tunnel connected to the specialty factory, where consumer sugar is packaged, can store and transfer a large variety of sugar products. Three computer-controlled pallet cranes transport the sugar products from production to storage space 24 hours a day, without human intervention. Value Added Logistics on location ensures that pallets can be assembled to your wishes, which ensures custom deliveries.
