Family business

A committed and independently operating family business for 85 years

Since January 2022, our company has been run by the third generation. Sabine (managing director) and Tim Zijderlaan (transport director), together with Leo Lokker (commercial and operational director), form the current board of directors. With the same standards and values from the past, we have a clear strategy in mind, with which we will continue to distinguish ourselves in the market and develop further in the areas of sustainability and digitalisation.

An important advantage of a family business is that short and direct lines of communication enable decisions to be taken swiftly. In this respect, a deal is a deal, with which we create mutual trust.

"We are proud that, as the third generation, we have been given the confidence to continue our family business. A great opportunity with great responsibilities. For 85 years, our people have been the driving force within our company. Each and every one of them passionate and professional employees who are prepared to go that extra mile for the customer. The well-known Zijderlaan mentality! This has helped Zijderlaan grow over the past 85 years into a professional, sustainable and committed logistics service provider."

Wim Zijderlaan

After almost 50 years in the business, Wim Zijderlaan has taken a step back and passed the helm to the third generation. As a member of the Supervisory Board, Wim is still closely involved with the organisation in an advisory capacity in the background.

Wim joined the company in 1973. Together with his brother Nico and a group of loyal employees, he has given Zijderlaan a tremendous boost. Nico mainly internally and Wim externally. In the beginning they had about 35 vehicles and were mainly busy with their own transport for the trading company in wet feeds. In 2005 this trading company was sold and Zijderlaan started to specialise as a logistics service provider. Wim took over the shares from Nico in 2010. A special moment, because they always built the company together. Opportunities came along and the company grew and grew. The takeover of Van de Lagemaat, the construction of DC Zijderlaan - Puttershoek and growth in a number of niche markets have led to the company that exists today. Wim proudly handed over a beautiful family business with 220 vehicles, 275 employees, a state of the art Truck & Trailer service and 3 DCs in Stolwijk, Steenbergen and Puttershoek.
